The Best Weight Loss Program for Women in their 40s, 50s, and Beyond!
I’ve been working as a professional Strength & Conditioning coach, as well as a certified Nutritionist, for over 20 years now (yikes! That’s a long time!). And through those many many years, I’ve seen many many weight loss programs. Specifically weight loss programs geared towards women of a certain age. And even before I was a trainer, I was exposed to the industry through my mother and her own obsession with her weight. I remember the aerobics craze of the 80s (I still love the fashion trends that came out of it!); I remember the Thigh Master; I remember Tae Bo!! And the BowFlex!! Oh, I really wanted one of those…
There were a ton of different fads, and there still are!! Right now it’s Intermittent Fasting, Keto, and Semaglutide/Ozempic (See my thoughts on Ozempic here and IF here). But the funny thing is, whether it’s a product, program or pill, these things never seem to last. And for good reason: their results are inconsistent or nonexistent.
I love Suzanne Somers, she was a total inspiration for me growing up! But the Thigh Master was never going to help women lose weight and get fit. Would it strengthen your thighs? Sure. But it wasn’t going to change your entire body or your entire life. Intermittent Fasting is now being proven to be incredibly ineffective for women, and Ozempic comes with a laundry list of side-effects, and I’ve seen some of the more extreme ones, they ain’t pretty!
The reality is, there is no magic pill or get-rich-quick scheme. Your fitness is not going to be bought from an infomercial. But I have found an effective, consistent, lasting way for women to reclaim their bodies, get their energy back, get their libido back, and feel like themselves again! But wait! There’s more!! With Body By Simone, you can eat whatever you want, lose weight, have great cholesterol and it still slices tomatoes! Operators are standing by to take your order!
But seriously, over the last 20+ years, I have found out what works best. I’ve looked at the research studies, I’ve looked at the data from my own clientele, and the best way for women to get in shape is through a simple combination of regular physical activity and proper nutrition. And when I say proper nutrition, I am not talking about dieting or severely restricting calories. I’m talking about making sure you’re taking in the right amount of proteins, carbs and fats, along with the appropriate amount of water and fiber, to give your body all the fuel it needs to flourish.
It sounds simple, doesn’t it? It kinda is! Well, if it’s that simple, then why isn’t everyone doing it? Well, first off, it’s not as sexy as the fads. The lie of Ozempic is that, you take it and you can eat whatever you want! Who wouldn’t want that? But even the pharma company behind it says that it is supposed to be used in conjunction with dietary changes and exercise. Same with Intermittent Fasting: so long as you only eat within this restricted window of time, you can shed pounds easily and eat whatever you want. But that’s not true either. What you eat matters, not just when. So all these products have some implicit promise in them that speaks to our human desire to have it all; to literally have our cake and eat it too. And think back to all those infomercials touting fitness fads, they all had two things in common: the first was 4 easy payments of $19.99, but the second was: it made health and fitness seem easy! It made you feel like this was the secret!
Secondly, Simple and Easy are not the same thing. Sure working out and eating well sounds simple, but it’s not necessarily easy (I would argue that, the longer you practice it, the easier it gets though). The concept is simple, but you have to know what kind of workouts to do, and when. You have to know what kind of foods to eat, and how much! And then there’s the whole struggle of motivation to actually do the right thing when our brains are telling us the couch and cookies are what we really want!
So that’s why I think the fads continue to dominate when the answer is right there in front of us. It’s also why I created my program, the Total Body Transformation. Because it solves a lot of those pain points: you get 5 new, 20-30 minute workouts every week (and a schedule for them); we walk you through how much you need to eat and what you need to eat; we have a TON of macro-balanced (more about macros here) recipes at your fingertips; we have a robust support network to help you when you’re struggling with motivation; and, most importantly, a thriving community of like-minded individuals who are going through the same journey as you!

Simone
